Large bronze sculptures make
bold artistic statements and say as much about the owner as they do the
artist. You can dress them up with a fountain, surround them with
plants in a well traveled atrium, or simply adorn the inside of your home
or business with them but they pretty much stay where you put them--they
are what they are, where they are. On the other hand, smaller sculptures--the
ones that can sit on a shelf or a fireplace mantle--are unique in their
display options. Not only are they easily
portable, these smaller sculptures are surprisingly versatile too.
With a little imagination, you'll find they can serve as a beautiful
enhancement to any room in your home or business. Of course, there's nothing wrong with showing off
your bronze by setting it atop a pedestal to prominently display it
in your living room or placing it next to your crystal in a curio cabinet.
If that's more in tune with your aesthetic tastes, you
might find our article, "Displaying Your Bronze" helpful.
However, if you're more the adventurous type, here are some ideas you can try with your
bronze.
For your own
enjoyment:
When you first get your
bronze try placing it on top of your television
or in the middle of your kitchen table where you're sure to see it
often.
If you've got a window
you look out often, like over your kitchen sink or next to your desk,
try placing your bronze in the window
seal. This works especially well if you also enjoy the view out
the window. Perhaps you've got a garden or view of distant
mountains that create a pleasing back drop for your
sculpture.
-
An alcove in a well
traveled hall or at the head of stairs makes an excellent display
place where you'll see it daily.
In general, move your
bronze around the house from room to room, set it on your coffee
table, on a bookshelf, the fireplace mantle, etc.. You'll likely find a favorite spot for
it but you'll also come to appreciate their versatility.
If you'd like others to see, enjoy, and comment on your bronze:
- In a room where you and your quests usually gravitate to, position
your bronze on a shelf or fireplace mantle (always at eye
level). To make sure it gets noticed, illuminate it
slightly. Let your guests mention it first.
- If co-workers or clients regularly sit around your desk, place your
bronze where it'll be at eye
level when they're seated.
- This might sound funny, but a bronze sitting on a bathroom vanity
benefits from exceptionally good lighting. This is the kind of
thing quests find impressive but probably won't talk about until they
get home.
- Want to make an impression on dinner quests? Aside from a
delicious meal and lively conversation, a great center piece could do
the trick. Center your bronze on the dining table and surround
it with
small related articles. If you own one of our wine series sculptures
for example, encircle it
with leaves, grape clusters, wine bottles, glasses, corkscrew,
etc. Martha Stewart would love it and so will your
guests.
- Small bronzes also make excellent trophies and awards. Not for some
small accomplishment of course, they cost too much for that. But for major achievements, a
small bronze can be quite appropriate.
Have a brass name plate personalized to suit the recipient's achievements.
- And finally, because bronze sculptures
last so long, they can become valued family heirlooms so be sure to bequeath it to someone special.
