Bases
What we're calling a
"base" is the part that supports the sculpture. For
example, the bronze sculpture to the left is attached to, or mounted on, a wood
"base".
There are a myriad of materials that make
excellent bases. Most of the smaller bronze sculptures come mounted on a
hardwood base. Each wooden base has a brass name tag with the title
of the piece and the artist’s name. If
you'd prefer a different inscription, just let us know. (The largest
sculptures come with a bronze plaque.)
You have your choice of any
domestic hard wood or the more exotic African Rosewood (Ed's favorite)
included in the price of the sculpture. Other exotic woods are
available but for an additional charge (see choices below).
For smaller sculptures, Ed
thinks wood bases are as practical as they
are beautiful. But we can mount your sculpture on just about any
material or combination of materials you choose. Custom bases can be
made from marble (see list below), metal, granite, concrete, etc. We
can even create a faux finish if you like. Call the studio and speak with the artist himself for expert
advice.
